PROFILE:

Maggie Van Ostrand, Mexico.

Maggie Van Ostrand moved to Mexico in 1995, following the death of Mark Goodson, chief of Mark Goodson Productions, of which she was vice president. The same year, there was an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the richter scale, which cost Maggie her California home of 35 years.

'Writing is my life,' said Maggie recently. Her humorous features appear on the internet and are published in three countries in a variety of newspapers.. Her career began after she wrote up an account of a trip to California to buy doggy treats, and was subject to the attentions of the airport's drug-sniffing dogs. The article was published in a local newspaper in Mexico, following which, the editor asked her if she would like to write a regular column. Her work was subsequently published in The Chicago Tribune and The Boston Globe amongst others.

Maggie has a varied career; she is currently preparing jokes for her upcoming keynote convention speeches. She did a two-hour interview with Horace J Digby for his radio show in Michigan, a show which has featured such luminaries as Bob Newhart and Dave Barry.
