FORTHCOMING MEMBER COMPETITIONS
REVISED COMPETITION RULES (April, 2008) To be read in conjunction with individual competition guidelines
1. Only FULLY paid-up members may enter competitions.
2. Closing dates for competitions are final.
3. Entries must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee.
4. PROSE entries should be typed with double spacing on one side only of white A4 paper.
5. POETRY should by typed with single spacing to a maximum of 40 lines.
6. ALL entrants MUST use their membership number. It should appear on the cover sheet (with the title of the work) on every page of text and on SAE for return of your manuscript.
7. All entries should be unpublished and not read or performed in any form in the public domain (in house events excepted) up to the closing date of the competition. Nor should they be offered for publication before the final results are declared. EXCEPTION The Lady Violet Astor Trophy is for a published piece during the previous two years.
8. Please do not send entries by recorded delivery. If proof of receipt is required enclose a SA postcard together with an SAE with correct postage for manuscript return.
9. In the event of a great number of entries, the SWWJ Council reserves the right, should the judge request, to appoint a ‘short-listing’ panel.
10. A copy of all entries should be kept.
11. Prize winners are expected to attend the prize-giving whenever possible.
12. Overseas members only - you may enter via email, using PayPal for payment. Contact Zoe King for payment details.
Membership numbers appear on your membership card. If omitted, please contact Membership Secretary Wendy Hughes. Without this number your entry will NOT be accepted.
