LEVELS OF MEMBERSHIP There are five levels of membership for the Society: Full membership - a woman writer who satisfies the Council that she is a bona fide professional worker in literature, journalism, or related spheres. Probationary membership - a women writer who has not yet achieved the status of professional writer and/or writers with serious intent to work towards that end. Evidence must be supplied to the Council by means of documentation. Student Member - a woman writer of any age holding a bona fide student card and fulfilling the criteria for probationary membership will be entitled to a reduced membership fee. Associate Member - a non-writer who is engaged in or concerned with allied forms of literary or journalistic work. e.g. editor, publisher, agent, illustrator, photographer, librarian, etc. Male writers are accepted as Associate Members. Honorary Membership is for those distinguished people whom the Society may invite to become members without payment of subscription. Please note: Associate, Probationary, Student and Honorary memberships carry the right to share in the social activities of the Society. Such members may attend the Annual General Meeting but are not eligible to vote. Those who do not qualify for membership may like to consider our Friends section.
