MEMBER NEWS Vanessa Gebbie recently did a book signing in Waterstones, Brighton, where she wrote flash fiction pieces for customers buying her recently published novel, The Coward's Tale. Patrick Forsyth's new book, Empty When Half Full was published on 1 November 2011. An ideal Christmas gift, the book is humorous, but with a serious intent - to make us aware of how the English language can be, and too often is, mangled by those seeking to communicate. Silja Swaby recently won 2nd Prize in the Arts Council England/Exeter University Short Story Competition for the Imagine There's a Future project. Jane Lockyer Willis recently had two one-act plays published by Spotlight Publications - Cinderella's Time Out, a new take on the classic fairlytale, and Visiting Hours. Both are comedies in two acts. Dr Tessa Nelson Humphries had a poem, Something Broken to Declare at Every Customs' Desk in California's Blue Unicorn poetry magazine. Glen Jayson took part in an afternoon of readings from This Island City at the Gazebo Gardens, Havant. Her poem Whispers, about Southsea Rose Gardens, was featured in this anthology, which was published by Spinnaker Press.
