NATIONAL EVENTS Drama Workshop - Saturday 13 March, 2010 from 11.00am to 4.00pm Chawton House visit - Tuesday 13 April 2010 - 11.30am. Chawton House was once the home of Edward Austen Knight, Jane Austen's brother, and now houses a remarkable collection of women's writing from 1600 to 1830. The day will begin with a walking tour of the library, together with a verbal history, followed by lunch, and time to explore the grounds and gardens. Visits to the Jane Austen Museum are also available, but the entrance fee is NOT included in the price of the tour. Cost: £22 members, £23 guests. SWWJ Weekend Conference 24– 26 September 2010 The Conference will be held at the Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, and will be special as it toasts the 100th year anniversary of former President Joyce Grenfell's birth, and also the centenary year of The Woman Writer. Speakers and guests include Professor Janet Todd, internationally renowned scholar of early women writers, Jenny Rose, exponent of Joyce Grenfell's monologues, and Felix Francis, son of Dick, who will talk about crime writing. Other workshop leaders include: Lynne Hackles, Patrick Forsythe, Ruth Symes, Paddy Gormley, Jude Simpson, and Zoe King. More information in the February 2010 edition of The Woman Writer.
