Our Events include many online, ‘Zoom’ and in-person events, including a series of author interview webinars. Please visit our facebook and twitter pages and read the members’ email bulletin for regular updates. Council members are regularly in touch with each other and with members, so you can still put any questions or suggestions to them for discussion in the usual way.

Swanwick Summer School

The Swanwick Writers’ School has been organising its successful annual writing get-together in Derbyshire for more than 70 years, and many of our members have attended at one time or another. The SWWJ Council would like to try and get as many members as possible to attend the 2023 event. Two of our Council Members, Vivien Brown and Benita Cullingford, will be attending as Tutors.

The five-day event includes a huge choice of courses, workshops, speakers and evening events to suit writers working in all disciplines and genres, with fun things like a disco, quiz and fancy dress night going on too! The accommodation is hotel-standard and very comfortable. The grounds, lake and nearby village are beautiful and perfect for a walk, and you might even come across some friendly animals in the adjacent fields. Food is plentiful, with three big buffet-style cooked meals a day and all tea/coffee included! There is a book room too, where you can sell your books and dip into those from other delegates.
