Am I eligible to become a Full Member of the SWWJ?

Q. Who can join as a Full Member?

A. Professional female writers who have a had a body of recognised published work in literature, drama or journalism.  Self-published books are eligible if you have sold over 200 copies.

When applying for Full and Associate Membership, you will need to confirm your professional writing credentials. Whilst awaiting confirmation, members will automatically be awarded New Writer status. Please note: Your press card will be issued up to one month following confirmation of Full Membership

Full and Associate Members are awarded post nominals to recognise their professionalism. We need to ensure that they are awarded appropriately. We will be looking for experience and a professional level of publication. Assessment of applications is done by the Council of the Society. Council is made up of professional writers. Once Council reach a decision about an application, the decision is final. Members can change categories of membership at a later date if and when their publication and experience levels change. 
 
Experience to include on the form:
  • Books (fiction and/or non-fiction), poetry pamphlets, plays (give all titles, publishers, publication or production dates)
  • Stories/articles/poetry(give names of periodicals and dates of publication)
  • Television/film/video and radio scripts (give brief particulars)
  • Staff member (name of newspaper or magazine and position on staff)
  • If any of your publications are self published or an e-book edition, please indicate. Also all self-published books and e-books must be accompanied by evidence of sales which must have reached a minimum of 200 copies.
  • Writing competitions – give particulars of wins
